An article in the April 2013 edition of Money Magazine made me think about all the accessibility projects we have done over the years. On page 81, Item #7, CPA Aaron Barlev suggests, “And don’t overlook anything: Health-related home renovations, such as installing a therapeutic pool to treat your back, can qualify.”
Carrier has produced a white paper that helps calculate the tax savings of installing a new geothermal heat pump system. (See press release here.)
It provides an overview of the federal tax credits available and includes payback analysis for the type of construction, i.e. new construction, retrofit or replacement installations. Tax benefits of up to 50% are available.

The Antiquarian and Historical Society of Culver (AHS) bought lunch for me and a few other Culver citizens on Tuesday to solicit our opinions. They should know how opinionated I am by now… Lunch was appreciated, but not necessary!
AHS is floating the idea that Culver needs a Visitor’s Center and that this would be a good combination with a new History Museum. An opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. I heard most of this presentation once before at the Culver Chamber of Commerce meeting in February. Both times I had to agree that a visitor’s center would be nice, but wondered if our tourist season is long enough to justify it.
