Run for Your Lives!

13I have two nieces that will be participating in the Knightstown Run For Your Lives 5K run this Saturday.  Sounds like it should be pretty cool!  Both of them are Walking Dead fans and we have a txt’d episode discussion after each new episode airs.  That along with a running joke where we rate tools, yard implements and kitchen utensils for their value and undead killing potential when the Zombie Apocalypse comes.  (Did you know you could buy Zombie Survival Kits on Amazon.com?)

We’ve also had a running discussion of what their team should wear and they were considering custom t-shirts, so we’ll see what they come up with.  “We taste like Broccoli” was a contender as well as “Tasty brains are Hard to Catch!”   There are sites full of ready made zombie t-shirts too such as zazzle.com and and cafepress.com

It should be fun to watch and there’s supposed to be a big Apocalypse party associated with it.  The website promises bands, food and games.  Apparently there are enough people participating that they will be doing waves of runners and associated zombies to attack them.  Becky and I will be going down to cheer them on and document the carnage!  If I get any good pictures, I’ll try and put them up next week.

As Hoosiers, we can take heart in the fact that we’re only the 25th most taxed State, so our Tax Freedom Day was actually April 13th according to the Star Press.  It was hard to celebrate this Saturday when I was still finalizing my 2012 taxes to mail out on the 15th…

I Hate DST (Daylight Saving Time)

I am one of the groggy people you met on the road this morning.  My internal clock is harder to reset than the digital clock on my oven.  I grumbled yesterday resetting my watch and various clocks, but the fact that my alarm clock and cell phone reset automatically was almost as annoying!  How dare they make it seem so easy!

If you want to commiserate with me, maybe we could meet for brunch sometime.   By then it will be light out and I will be more civil…

New Home for VTAC

Photo borrowed from the Pilot News article referenced herein
Pilot Photo/Daniel Riordan The Veterans Theraputic Art Center will now be located in the upstairs of the Old Firehouse building.

I wrote about my meeting with the guys from VTAC (Veterans Therapeutic Art Center) a few months back.  You can read that post here or you can bring up several related posts by typing VTAC in the search box to the right.  There was an article in today’s Pilot News talking about their new home on the second floor of the Old Firehouse in downtown Plymouth, Indiana.  You can read that article here.

I’m pleased to see them doing well and continuing their good work.  Congratulations on the new digs guys!
