BMC “Cool Roof” Technology

Butler Manufacturing Company (BMC) offers sustainable 25-yr color finishes that meet the reflectance and emittance standards established by the energy codes for “cool roofs.” Butler cool roofs help mitigate the Heat Island Effect, which produces high relative temperatures in urban areas that contribute to smog formation. We have been a Butler Builder for over 20 years and the main reason we chose BMC is because of their MR-24 roof.  BMC’s MR-24 standing seam roof system is one of the best in the industry and we have had excellent experience with it.  We are currently in the process of installing a MR-24 roof on the First United Methodist Church in Winamac and on our offices here in Culver.The graphic to the left shows how the roof panels are seamed in place during installation.  You can see that water would have to travel 360 degrees through this seam to penetrate below the roof system.  This combined with concealed fasteners makes this roof a virtual soup can.  This along with movable clips to account for thermal movement make this system one of the best on the market.
